THE WILLARD COMPANIES NAMES NEW HEAD GOLF PRO

Smith Mountain Lake, VA (December 19, 2003) – The Willard Companies has named Stuart Smith as head golf professional for The Waterfront Country Club at Smith Mountain Lake.

Smith began his golf career as an assistant pro at Hidden Valley Country Club. In 1994, Smith moved to The Waterfront Country Club where he was an assistant for three years. He then spent two years as the assistant at The Water's Edge Country Club before being named head pro at The Westlake Golf and Country Club for the past five years.

Smith graduated from Cave Spring High School in Roanoke and played collegiately at Ferrum College. Smith and his wife, Sheri, live in Roanoke, Virginia.

The Waterfront Country Club opened in 1981. The course offers a very fair but challenging layout designed by local architect George Dillon. Preserving the history of the land used was at the top of the list of priorities when this course was built. It offers incredible vista views and follows the original topography of the land.
